Carolyn Butler

Carolyn Butler, BA Hons, BD, PG Dip. Psych, MSC

I understand that life can feel very difficult sometimes and that it helps to be able to share this with someone impartial. You may be feeling that you would like to enjoy life more or perhaps find a greater sense of meaning. This could include more meaningful relationships and a stronger sense of your own potential. Therapy involves listening very carefully to problems and thinking about the underlying causes – especially as they relate to the past. I work with many issues including relationship difficulties, bereavement, suicidal thoughts, social phobias, abuse and loss of meaning.

I trained at WPF in London, one of the UK’s leading training organisations for psychodynamic psychotherapy, and I abide by the BACP code of ethics. I also have a Masters degree in Psychology and Research. Prior to this I worked in radio and print journalism, and I have published two books.

I have also worked in two NHS Trusts with people who have long-term and complex mental health needs. In addition, I have extensive experience in the voluntary sector, including the Samaritans.

Alongside psychotherapy I am trained in Spiritual Direction and work with people from various backgrounds who are interested in developing their spirituality.

I am a registered member of BPC, BACP and FPC, (British Psychoanalytic Council, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling).

If you have any questions, or would like to arrange a consultation, please email me in confidence at carolynr.butler@btinternet.com or call on 07943 091835 and I will get back to you as soon as I can. The cost for an initial meeting and also for ongoing therapy sessions is £80.
